COSL Drilling Europe, a safe and efficient drilling contractor dedicated to delivering on the energy transition with its cutting-edge, low-emission drilling rigs, is currently seeking skilled and motivated Drilling Section Leader to join our team.

By 2025, our ambition is to provide climate-neutral drilling services and set a new market standard.

Our rig portfolio has a proven track record of having the most efficient and best performing rigs in the North Sea, with Energy Control Systems already delivering substantial CO2 and NOx reductions. The rigs are compact, with low PoB and operated by a highly competent and experienced team. We are certified with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard and the ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard and continuously invest in technology and competence that reduce emissions and bring long-term value creations for our customers and society.
 

The DSL`s tasks and responsibilities are, but not limited to, following:

  • Perform active leadership in close cooperation with OIM and other section leaders.
  • Actively involve him/ herself in HR tasks that include, but are not limited to: appraisal interviews, sick leave followup, general personnel collaboration and keep a close dialog with shore based management about the same.
  • Function as overall responsible for the operation of drilling equipment and for ensuring that it is being operated in accordance with the operational procedures.
  • To set an example to others in safe behaviour in compliance with CDE procedures
  • Ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with the drilling program and that they are executed according to CDE's and client procedures.
  • To follow-up maintenance of the drilling equipment.
  • Ensuring that all required consumables and equipment for the drilling section are available onboard.
  • Ensuring that all employees in drilling section are given necessary instructions.
  • Ensuring good communication and working relationship with OIM, Rig Manager and other section leaders as well as 3rd party and Clients representative.
  • Ensuring that work permits and SJA are established when required.
  • Daily keeping of journals/logs in the drilling section.
  • Ensuring that subordinates possess the necessary qualifications and experience to carry out their tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Keeping track on competence and training requirements and ensuring that all personnel in their defined area of responsibility are updated or have a short-term plan for closing competence gaps.

 

Suitable applicants should ideally have:

  • Passed a vocational training programme acc. to NOG024 within Drilling & Well Technology, or other similar studies with spesialization in Mechanical / Hydraulical or Electrical vocational studies, followed by Technical College Petroleum
  • Relevant experience

  • OGP L4 -IWCF Certificate Supervisor
  • Chemical Handling - basic knowledge
  • Work Permit & Safe Job Analysis

  • Fork Lift Operator Certificate T 1 & T4
  • G20 Knuckle Boom Crane Cert. (Fastmontert hydraulisk kran)

COSL Drilling Europe was established in 2005, and has its head office located in Stavanger, Norway. Today we operate four modern drilling units. We have a solid owner with stable ratings in China Oilfield Services Limited, listed at the Shanghai Stock Exchange, with ambitions to strengthen its foothold in the North Sea. Our four semi-submersible drilling rigs were delivered from the yard respectively in November 2010 (COSLPioneer), November 2011 (COSLInnovator), May 2012 (COSLPromoter) and November 2014 (COSLProspector). The first drilling operations started in Norway in August 2011 and COSL Drilling Europe has since then been in continuous operation drilling and completing wells in Norway, UK, Faroe Islands and New Zealand. The drilling units are of a similar design and have all proven strong and consistent performance deliveries. Our rig portfolio has a proven track record of having the most efficient and best-performing rigs in the North Sea. COSL is setting a new standard in the North Sea with its energy efficiency. Our ambition is to deliver carbon neutral drilling operations within 2025.
