COSL Drilling Europe, a safe and efficient drilling contractor dedicated to delivering on the energy transition with its cutting-edge, low-emission drilling rigs, is currently seeking skilled and motivated Hydraulic-Mechanic to join our team.

By 2025, our ambition is to provide climate-neutral drilling services and set a new market standard.

Our rig portfolio has a proven track record of having the most efficient and best performing rigs in the North Sea, with Energy Control Systems already delivering substantial CO2 and NOx reductions. The rigs are compact, with low PoB and operated by a highly competent and experienced team. We are certified with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard and the ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard and continuously invest in technology and competence that reduce emissions and bring long-term value creations for our customers and society.

The Hydraulic-Mechanic`s tasks and responsibilities are, but not limited to, following:

  • Familiarise with all Mechanical and Hydraulic systems, Power packs and related mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
  • Liaise with the Technical Section Leader regarding equipment repairs, maintenance and plan.
  • Check and maintain mechanical, hydraulic/ pneumatic systems.
  • Prepare request for mechanical and hydraulic spare parts, and maintain stock levels.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement of the maintenance system.
  • Establish and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness throughout his/ her area of responsibility.
  • Keep maintenance records and prepare reports concerning mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure that orders and instructions given or received in writing or verbally are fully understood and adhered to.
  • Ensure that work permits and SJA are established when required.


Suitable applicants should ideally have:

  • Passed a vocational training programme leading to a Mechanical or Hydraulic trade certificate
  • Relevant experience
  • Fit to work offshore
  • Basic Safety Training - NOG
  • Offshore Medical Certificate
  • Work Permit & Safe Job Analysis
  • Banksman & Slinger (O 1.1 og 2.3) 
  • P-2.4 Simple Lifting devices 
  • G11 Slinger
  • Hose press course 
  • Hydraulics Advanced
  • Hydraulics Troubleshooting
  • Rigging course (O 2.2 + 3.2)
  • Scaffolding user course
  • Chemical Handling - basic knowledge
  • ISPS Designated Security Duties

COSL Drilling Europe was established in 2005, and has its head office located in Stavanger, Norway. Today we operate four modern drilling units. We have a solid owner with stable ratings in China Oilfield Services Limited, listed at the Shanghai Stock Exchange, with ambitions to strengthen its foothold in the North Sea. Our four semi-submersible drilling rigs were delivered from the yard respectively in November 2010 (COSLPioneer), November 2011 (COSLInnovator), May 2012 (COSLPromoter) and November 2014 (COSLProspector). The first drilling operations started in Norway in August 2011 and COSL Drilling Europe has since then been in continuous operation drilling and completing wells in Norway, UK, Faroe Islands and New Zealand. The drilling units are of a similar design and have all proven strong and consistent performance deliveries. Our rig portfolio has a proven track record of having the most efficient and best-performing rigs in the North Sea. COSL is setting a new standard in the North Sea with its energy efficiency. Our ambition is to deliver carbon neutral drilling operations within 2025.
